Let me first introduce myself, I am James Dukes, Platform Stylist, Hairstylist/Sole Proprietor (Crooked Stylz International), who happens to be saved by God's grace, the gift giver.

 

 

When it comes to exquisitely and exclusively styled hair, the name that comes to mind is Mr. James Dukes, born and raised in Kingstree, South Carolina and a 2004 graduate from Kingstree Senior High School. James is the new trend that takes women to the next level in hair styling, He is known for his chic and creative styling ability, “Crooked Stylz.”

 

In his early life at the age of 12, was when James began experimenting with haircutting, but had no plans of being a barber or stylist. As he got older, James had his first opportunity to style hair, which was for his  aunt to attend his sister’s wedding, September 9, 2006. James still didn’t realize it was something he wanted to do until age 24. He knew he was skilled at it from experimenting throughout the following years, so he figured he would utilize the platform as a bridge to his music career, which is his first love and passion. In 2010 James enrolled at Pitt Community College in Greenville, NC where he began  the process to obtain his Cosmetology License from Mitchell’s Hairstyling Academy. This was the beginning of a lucrative career path he was ready to start in developing creative styles with hair.

 

After completing school and training, James went on to begin his career as a hairstylist in 2010 at Salon Intrisilk in Greenville, NC. This was just the stepping stone he needed to pull out his great styles for the perfect clients who would book an appointment with him. To make sure his clients receives the best, James is always on top of the trends. It’s his personal goal to continue to grow and excel in his craft and to ultimately share all that he learns with others.

 

James was on his way to developing a brand as a household name for creating the cuts, styles and weaves as requested. This original hair designer debuted his talents in Cosmetology School Competitions as well as November 6, 2010 in his first and only Student Fantasy Hair Battle in Greensboro, NC where he won 1st Place. Currently you can find Mr. Dukes displaying his craft on the Morning Glory Products stage as a Platform Stylist. He was last featured on Bronner Bro’s Vendors Brochure, Hype Hair Magazine along with his styling team and the first two issues of B.O.S.S. Hair Magazine. He is best known for being and edgy, innovative, yet original hairstylist who is memorable after touching your hair.

 

To be a talented and master art of hair, you have to be gifted to love what you do. To know that James is on his way to new and better ways, he stated that, “I am no longer making my own physical plans in life. I am however planning to continue to grow and live a life that is pleasing to God and His Kingdom and to let Him lead and guide my next steps”. Knowing and loving what he does, James uses hair as his canvas, bringing a distinctive aesthetic and fresh approach to draw out the unique beauty in each of his clients. Hair is his art and he shows the love he has for it by transforming his clients from start to finish, inside out, building up, encouraging and inspiring each client he comes into contact with. Not only is he known for being a unique hairstylist, but he states “My #1 interest is God and His will for my life. I also enjoy ministering music vocally as well as through dance/mime, writing music and fashion designing”. He also states “My goal and motto is styling and beautifying the world one head and one heart at a time”.

 

James Dukes is a man after God’s heart, and is grateful for the gifts God has graced him with.
